Enthusiasm for what is to come energizes the mindset for success. If a brighter tomorrow is not expected, why get up, why work on building a business, why invest in relationships, why save the world?
Optimism could be criticized for being unrealistic or simple, naive idealism, but what is gained by being a pessimist? Given the choice between optimism and pessimism, and it is your choice, why not choose optimism? A mindset for success prospers with optimism. As the popular quote encourages, “Shoot for the moon and even if you miss you will be among the stars.”
Optimism is not simple-mindedness
- An optimist doesn’t sit around hoping magic will make things work and bring success.
- Optimism is based on facts. A realistic evaluation of the situation produces details which in turn help create a positive plan of action.
- An optimist has confidence that goals are achievable.
- Optimism energizes with the hope of success.
Super Heroes are confident that they will find a way to accomplish the mission. They don’t take “no” for an answer. They are successful. The same can be true for us with whatever we strive to achieve.
